Using LecMate
What does LecMate do?
It connects the steps around one class: materials arrive, you follow with live captions and translation, grounded notes keep their sources, and Library and Study carry the same context into review.
Which platforms does LecMate cover?
LecMate is one product family across macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android. The download page keeps the current platform information and requirements in one place.
What does the Mac app require?
The Mac app supports Apple Silicon and macOS 14 or later. The speech-model size appears before download and an interrupted model download resumes from the completed part.
What works offline?
After the speech model is downloaded, captions run on your device without an internet connection. Translation and note creation use an internet connection when you request them.
Which materials connect to LecMate?
Canvas, Moodle, Zotero, and files you provide can sit beside your classes, notes, research, and practice.
What happens if LecMate closes during class?
LecMate saves class data locally as you go. When it starts again, it detects an interrupted session and prepares recovery instead of marking that class as finished.
Privacy and responsible use
What does “LOCAL BY DESIGN” mean?
Speech recognition runs on your device. Audio and your local Library stay there; text leaves only when you ask for translation or notes, and the app makes that boundary visible.
What leaves my device?
Only the text needed to complete a translation or note request. Audio does not leave your device, and PELPULSE’s backend does not store your class audio, transcripts, translations, or notes.
How should I use recording and AI responsibly?
Check your university’s policy first. Being allowed to record does not mean you are allowed to distribute it. Follow any notice or consent rules, use LecMate for your own learning, and check important work against the original source.
Can I check where a note came from?
Yes. Grounded notes link each supported point back to the transcript or material it came from, so you can reopen the source before relying on it.
Plans, referrals, and support
How much does LecMate cost?
Free is US$0. Pro is US$10 per month and Max is US$50 per month. There is no commitment, and you can change or cancel at any time.
How does the student discount work?
Once an .edu school email is verified, the 20% discount is permanent.
How does a referral code work?
The code in a referral link is saved on this device and carried into download and sign-up. Both people receive a coupon.
Where can I take my notes and writing?
Notes can export to an Obsidian folder. Grounded writing can export to Markdown and DOCX with source and citation states kept visible.
